The Hidden ‘Wanderlust’ Baby Names You’ve Never Heard Of
Names that feel quintessentially British are, in fact, deeply multicultural. We analysed the 2024 ONS birth registration data to map the countries shaping the UK top 100 – Germany leads with just over 20% of chart influence, followed by Hebrew and English roots – then went hunting for the hidden gems those same regions have yet to export. The result is a list of 20 ‘wanderlust’ names, from Ginevra and Aitana to Ansel and Oisín, that are hugely popular abroad but recorded fewer than 50 UK registrations, complete with origins, meanings and our full methodology.
